Well after a long layover at JFK airport and an even longer flight to Shanghai, I finally made it to my destination: Sapporo, Japan.
After checking into my hostel I went out to explore the city when I ended up in Odori Park. Odori Park is a rather nice park in downtown Sapporo, somewhat near Susukino (a very popular red-light district). One end there’s Sapporo TV Tower and on the other end there’s the Sapporo City Archive Museum. In between there’s plenty of space to go people watching and see various monuments. Overall, it’s a lot of fun especially if you like to go people watching.
I stayed there for 2 or 3 hours, most just taking in the sights and people watching. Lucky this time let by there during golden hour where I get had some amazing lighting for photos. Near the side with the museum there where some beautiful Mulan Mongolia flowers (sometimes known as Japanese Mongolia flowers although they’re originally from China).
Later that night I stopped at a local ramen shop. I had heard how different ramen was over there but I was really blown away. There it’s treated as a full meal: you get a full big bowl full with beef, a soft boiled egg, and other veggies. It really is quite amazing. Unfortunately… I didn’t get a picture of the ramen, it looked so good I just had to start eating.
It really was a great first day in Japan. There’s a lot more to write about but I’ve been so busy sight seeing. Until next time…
